Acceptable use policy
Last updated 31 October 2026
This policy says what may and may not be posted, offered, bought or paid for on Gikswork. It is part of our Terms of use and applies to everyone: employers, freelancers and businesses. Gikswork Ltd checks jobs, people and payments against it.
1. What Gikswork is for
Gikswork is for hiring real people for real, lawful work in Nigeria: trades and home services, professional and specialist work, shopping and delivery errands, team and event work, bulk orders of lawful goods, and online work such as design, writing and social media management.
2. Work that is not allowed
- Anything illegal in Nigeria, or work that helps someone break the law.
- Sexual services, escorting, adult content or anything that exploits people.
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives, or parts for them.
- Drugs, controlled medicines without a prescription, and drug equipment.
- Gambling, betting, lotteries, or work promoting them.
- Hacking, breaking into accounts or phones, writing malware, or getting around security.
- Fake documents, exam malpractice, impersonation, or doing someone else's ID check.
- Debt collection by threats, harassment or force, and any work meant to hurt or frighten a person.
- Ponzi or pyramid schemes, "double your money", investment or loan schemes, and money transfers for others.
- Selling or buying stolen goods, counterfeit goods, or wildlife and goods the law protects.
- Work that uses children, or any forced or unpaid labour.
- Hate, violence or discrimination against people for their tribe, religion, sex, disability or where they come from.
3. Online tasks
Online tasks (such as following, liking, commenting or sharing) must be done by real people from their own accounts, about content that is lawful. Bots, fake or bought accounts, one person using several accounts, and tasks that break a social network's own rules are not allowed. Proof screenshots must be real and unedited.
4. How people must use Gikswork
- Use your real name and your own ID. One person, one account.
- Post the true pay, place and size of the job, and only jobs you mean to pay for.
- Keep payment on Gikswork. Do not ask for or offer payment outside the app, or share phone numbers, emails, links or account numbers before an offer is accepted. If anyone pays or gets paid outside the app, they lose their protection and Gikswork is not responsible for anything that happens after.
- Give honest ratings, reviews and proof. No fake reviews, and no ratings swapped for favours.
- Treat people with respect, in chat and at the job. No harassment of any kind.
- Do not try to break, copy, scrape or overload the app, or use it to send spam.
5. How we check
New jobs are checked against this policy, and jobs outside our list of kinds of work, far below the usual pay, or for large bulk orders are looked at by a person before they go live. People who take jobs check their ID first. Chats hide contact details before an offer is accepted and flag talk of paying outside the app. Anyone can report a person or a job from the app; reports about safety or scams are looked at first.
6. What happens if the policy is broken
We may take down a job or a post, stop money being paid out while we investigate, pause or close the account, and refund money that is still held to the person who paid it. Where the law requires it, or someone is in danger, we report it to the police or other authorities. You can ask us to look again at a decision from Help or, for a paused account, at gikswork.com/locked.
7. Reporting
To report a job or a person, use Report in the app or the Safety centre. If anyone is in danger, call 112 first.
