Refund policy
Last updated 31 October 2026
Money on Gikswork is held in escrow until the work is done, so most refunds happen by themselves. This page says when money comes back to you and how fast.
1. Money in your wallet
Money you add stays yours until you use it for a job. It is held in escrow, secured by EscrowPay. You can spend it on jobs straight away. You add money by bank transfer. You can send it back to your bank from ₦10,000, with a ₦100 fee, to an account in your own name. Our team checks money you added yourself before it goes back, usually within 1 working day.
2. A job nobody takes, or that you cancel before an offer is accepted
The full amount held goes back to your wallet straight away.
3. Cancelling after an offer is accepted
The freelancer keeps 10% of the service fee for keeping the time free, or 30% to 70% plus receipted materials if they show they had already spent more and our team accepts it. Everything else comes back to your wallet.
4. The freelancer cancels or does not turn up
You get the full amount back in your wallet, and can hire someone else.
5. The work is not right
Report a problem before you release the payment, or within 7 days if it was paid automatically. The money still held stays frozen until it is sorted. Materials money you have not sent comes back to you. Money you already sent to the worker is theirs to buy with and does not come back.
6. Plans, boosts and ID checks
A plan you cancel runs to the end of the month already paid and is not refunded part way. Boosts are not refunded once live. ID checks are free.
7. Payments that went wrong
If you were charged twice, or money left your bank but did not reach your wallet, talk to us from Help with the payment reference. We check with our payment partner and put it right, usually within 2 working days.
